ITOP: Inprocess Training for Operators
Description:
Today, one of the most critical concerns in the process industry is to maintain and improve the know-how required to safely and efficiently operate the process plants. ITOP is a new approach for training operators and young engineers in subjects like Process Engineering and Unit Operations. This approach combines process simulation based exercises with classroom training, and motivates the attendees to experience complex theories through hands-on exercises. In this way, Inprocess has generated synergies that present the operator/student with chemical and process engineering concepts applicable to any plant, while also allowing the operator to learn the principles of all unit operations, and rendering unnecessary the need for access to a complex and costly plant training environment.
- Through ITOP, the operators gain better process understanding, leading to increased plant reliability and improvement in overall operator performance, as well as improved ability to operate the plants in a safe way
- ITOP can be adapted to support the company’s existing training strategy
- ITOP proves to the authorities the company’s investment in operators’ knowledge in order to be able to operate safely
- ITOP can be installed in local Training networks; in wide area networks; or in the cloud (private or public)
- ITOP can be purchased (perpetual license); it can be leased annually; or it can be accessed as a Service (SaaS)
ITOP modules are available for the following equipment (Unit Operations):
- Centrifugal Pump
- Centrifugal Compressor
- Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger (see a demo of this exercise in Youtube)
- Air Cooler
- Two-Liquid Phases Separation
- Liquid-Liquid Extraction
- Absorption Column
- Binary Distillation Column
- Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor with single reaction
- Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor with multiple reactions
- Continuous Plug Flow Reactor with multiple reactions
- Process Control Loops
ITOP is being used by operating companies in the chemical and hydrocarbon processing industries as well as in private and public educational institutions. See some recent success stories in Motor Oil Hellas (Grece) and Ecopetrol (Colombia).
