Motor Oil Hellas Achieves Remarkable Success in Training its Plant Operators with Inprocess’ ITOP and OTS Platforms

PRESS REALEASE: [Barcelona, May 29, 2023] – Inprocess, a global leader in innovative training technologies, proudly highlights the outstanding achievements of Motor Oil Hellas (“MOH”), a prominent player in the refining industry, through the successful implementation of Inprocess’ cutting-edge training platform, ITOP.

Throughout 2022, Motor Oil’s Corinth refinery leveraged ITOP to train up to 80 operators, including both new hires and maintenance personnel. This innovative solution has revolutionized Motor Oil’s training practices, empowering its workforce with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles and drive the company’s continued growth.

ITOP, short for Inprocess Training for Operators, is a state-of-the-art training solution developed by Inprocess, a renowned provider of industry-leading training solutions. Designed to meet the evolving needs of the chemical and hydrocarbon processing industries, ITOP offers a comprehensive and immersive learning experience that enhances operators’ capabilities and proficiency across a range of critical tasks.

Motor Oil recognized the potential of ITOP to transform its training programs and opted to implement the platform back in 2020. The decision proved to be instrumental in Motor Oil’s ability to efficiently train a diverse group of operators. By utilizing ITOP, Motor Oil ensured that all operators received consistent, high-quality training, regardless of their prior experience or background.

With ITOP, Motor Oil achieved several remarkable outcomes in its training initiatives. First and foremost, the platform facilitated a seamless onboarding process for new hires, enabling them to quickly acclimate to their roles and responsibilities. The immersive nature of ITOP’s training modules allowed operators to gain hands-on experience in a safe and controlled virtual environment, preparing them for real-world scenarios and challenges they would encounter on-site.

In parallel to ITOP, MOH also acquired from Inprocess a series of Operator Training Simulators (OTS) for several of their producing units. An OTS for the continuous catalytic reforming unit and another one for a topping unit were constructed from scratch, while the existing OTSs for the fluidized catalytic cracking and for the mild hydrocracker were updated and upgraded, matching current plant conditions.

Motor Oil’s successful implementation of those Inprocess’ Educational Tools not only improved the skills and competencies of its operators but also resulted in significant cost savings. By utilizing virtual simulations and immersive learning experiences, ITOP and the OTSs minimized the need for expensive physical equipment and reduced the risk of operational disruptions during training. This approach led to optimized training timelines and increased overall efficiency, ultimately translating into substantial cost savings for Motor Oil.

We are satisfied with the results we have achieved through our partnership with Inprocess and the implementation of ITOP and the OTSs,” said Aris Fotopoulos, Training Manager at Motor Oil’s Corinth refinery. “Despite the difficulties of COVID restrictions during the project, we have a working product that meets our needs. Those platforms have enabled us to upgrade the competence level of new operators and perform a refresh for experienced ones. It makes us more efficient, enhancing safety while saving unnecessary costs at the same time.”

Motor Oil’s success story with Inprocess underscores the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and investment in its workforce. By harnessing Inprocess’ innovative training platform, Motor Oil has demonstrated its dedication to equipping operators with the skills necessary to navigate the evolving demands of the refining industry successfully.
