SC-SS01: Introduction to steady state process simulation

SC-SS01

The course content covers the basic needs of process simulation users. The basic unit operations are introduced in a stepwise manner with the objective of being able to build flowsheets by the end of the course. The use of several software functionalities will show users how to explore operating alternatives for the processing plant units that are being studied.

A copy of the extensive training material used during the course will be provided to the students to be used as a basis for further study.

Some questions answered during the course:

  • How can I work with fluid streams?
  • What are GUI elements?
  • How to choose the correct simulation basis and property package?
  • How does the solver work and how to use it in our benefit?
  • How can you extract the results obtained in the simulation calculations?
  • How can the different unit operations be simulated? What is the mandatory information that shall be input?
  • Which additional tools does the simulation offer to make the case more robust?
  • How to act in badly setup cases?
