Description: A refinery planned a major unit revamp with extensive flare system modifications based on the results from conventional hydraulic studies. Inprocess was requested to deliver a rigorous analysis of the flare network requirements during a General Power Failure (GPF) using dynamic simulation. The responses of up to eight units in the refinery complex were analyzed when simulated under dynamics mode. 

The results obtained enabled a better comprehension of the performance of the flare network, impacting in significantly reducing the required PSV replacements and in avoiding piping modifications.
