Description: MOEVE Chemicals, with the aim of implementing an efficient way to prepare their operators for commissioning, start-up and operation of their new Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) plant, counted on Inprocess to develop an Operator Training Simulator using Aspen HYSYS Dynamics as the simulation platform, and Inprocess’ proprietary Iconex to create a high-fidelity replica of the DCS and the SIS.

Due to delays in the readiness of the real DCS database, Inprocess developed also an Emulated version of the OTS (with the control and safety logics inside the process model) to facilitate the on-time training of the operators. The combination of both delivered solutions, enabled a smoother start-up, reducing operational risks and improving operators’ readiness and decision-making capabilities. In addition, the dynamic process model has been used in subsequent Engineering Studies as well as in Operational Support.
