Plant expansion projects, unit revamps or debottlenecking studies may lead to a re-evaluation of the capacity of an asset existing flare system. Usually, after a re-evaluation study, an increase in flare load is determined. If the capacity of the asset flare system is close to its limit, the only solution is a capital project to increase the original capacity. Nevertheless, is there any possibility of reducing CAPEX by using a more accurate way of estimating the flare system behaviour?

Steady State feasibility studies to evaluate a series of potential distillation sequences (n-BuOH purification)

A mixture coming out from a biotechnology reactor needed separation and purification in order to reach purities above 99% for some of the alcohols that were in the fermentation broth. Inprocess was requested to prepare the process simulations that would support the conceptual design study in order to select the most promising separation and purification sequence of unit operations

Dynamic Simulation Study for EDC Cracking Furnaces and HCL Distillation Column

Description:

Inprocess developed a dynamic simulation study in order to:

  • Determine the flowrates to be evacuated due to the furnaces shut-down.
  • Determine the on/off valve sizes to be installed.
  • Analyse the system/flow behaviour during the furnaces shut--down.
  • Estimate the flow rates generated by a pipe rupture.

Dynamic Model, Process Trainer and Emulated Operator Training System for a Nitric Acid Plant

Description:

Many nitric acid plants had been designed and erected by the Client based on its own technology. In order to complement the Client's technological offer to its own clients, it was necessary to develop a dynamic model of the plant that would be used by the Client to show the plant operability to current customers as well as showing the plant and technology capabilities to future, potential customers. As an extended operation, once the dynamic model of the plant were available, it would be adapted into/converted into a Process Trainer and then into an Operator Training System.
